The Politics of Climate Change
Australia’s Greens leader, Senator Bob Brown, delivered the 2009 Mayo Lecture at the James Cook University. Bob Brown talked about the importance of renewable energy for the economy, and the politics of climate change in Australia.
Bob Brown also addressed the Rudd government’s Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme legislation, which has been rejected in the Senate. It was rejected because the Greens wanted tougher emissions targets while conservatives were divided on the need for the scheme and wanted it delayed until after the UN Climate Change Conference that will be held in December.
