ISSRM 2007 Call for Papers

The International Symposium on Society and Resource Management (ISSRM) calls for contributions to its 13th edition. This official meeting of the International Association for Society and Natural Resources, will take place from June 17-21, 2007. The 2007 symposium will be hosted by Utah State University in Park City, Utah. Abstract submissions are due January 31, 2007.

The theme for the 2007 symposium is Landscape Continuity and Change - Social Science Perspectives and Interdisciplinary Conversations.

Primary sub-themes:

  • Contributions of social science to environmental and natural resource management - How can we integrate ideas from social science and economics with those of the natural and managerial sciences to improve human interactions with natural resources and the environment?
  • Planning from community to regional scales - What have we learned about planning frameworks and institutions that can help people live sustainably in a rapidly changing world?
  • Landscape implications of social and economic change - How do the dramatic social and economic transformations taking place across the globe affect surrounding natural landscapes, and how can they be effectively managed or mitigated?
  • Social and economic implications of landscape change - How do changes in natural landscapes affect social and economic well being, and how can we better understand, predict, and mediate the effects of these changes?
