Bio
I am a researcher with a multidisciplinary background, and expertise in environmental institutions and governance.
I was born and grew up in Brazil, where I received a BSc (Hons) in Oceanography from the Federal University of Rio Grande (1996), and MSc in Geography from the University of Sao Paulo (2000). In 2007, I completed a PhD in Environmental Science at the University of Wollongong, Australia.
My academic background in both environmental and social sciences was instrumental in developing an appreciation for the interlinkages in social-ecological systems. My research has focused on the social and institutional dimensions of environmental governance. I am particularly interested in how systems of social norms and rules (known as institutions) can be designed and changed to promote improved environmental governance. Read more about my research here.
My other interests include photography , travelling, languages, and eastern-related teachings and practices.
